Safe Mobile Browsing with the Mobicip Safe Browser

By Jonathan Wylie

It is relatively easy to set up parent monitoring controls for computers used at home, but what about ones that are used on the go? Mobile internet devices like the iPod Touch and the iPad are great tools for today’s teenagers. However, it can be hard to monitor their usage when children use them away from home. This is where Mobicip’s Safe Browser comes into its own.

The Mobicip Safe Browser is an app that comes complete with Internet filtering and parental controls. It lets you choose what level of protection you want to add to your child’s online experience, and gives you the tools to monitor exactly what they are doing online.

This mobile browser is available for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. It is also designed to look and function in the same way as Apple’s Safari, so that your kids don’t feel self-conscious using it in front of their friends. Once downloaded, parents set up an admin account that allows them to set one of three privacy levels for each user. These levels are based on what is appropriate for elementary, middle or high school kids.

Schools have firewalls and filters to do this job, but with Mobicip you can have your own security right there on their favorite devices. If your child tries to visit an unauthorized site, or they are redirected to one via a malicious link, the Mobicip Safe Browser will block the site so that it cannot be seen.

A premium version of this app allows parents to allow or block individual sites of their choosing, and to view a complete history of all the sites that were accessed or blocked during your child’s use of this app. These statistics, and more besides, are available to view on the Mobicip website.

Some teens might look to circumvent this clever browser by using Safari, or downloading another browser instead, but you can prevent this by deactivating Safari, or restricting app downloads, when you set up parental controls for the iPad or iPod Touch.

So, if you are looking to control exactly what your kids are accessing on their mobile devices, check out Mobicip’s Safe Browser app. It’s not free, but it buys you a piece of mind that is hard to match.

Hey Jonathan, as a fellow Scot (my last name’s Murray for god’s sake!) I noticed your review for Mobicip and wanted to reach out and tell you about our browser, ‘Ranger’ that adds a whack of features (Geo-fencing, alerts, time restrictions(no net at bed time!) not available in Mobicip, and currently *totally Free* 🙂

We also run , which, in combination with Ranger protects kids on Social, as well as Mobile, giving a full 360 protection from not only inappropriate content, but also cyberbullying.

Give us a try! I’m always available for a quick chat if you like,

All the best,
