I am not sure if this is what you mean, but I enjoyed as a kid when my aunt would let me press the shaper into the soon-to-become cookies. 

Another thing is origami, find a good website that tells you way to manipulate paper in the hsape of animals, even better have ways to decorate them and have a nice afternoon making up stories and playing with your kids. 

I used to like making frogs and bunnies, as well as boats.

ADDED: I only found the frog.
